Arbitel H Tablets (Telmisartan + Hydrochlorothiazide)

• Composition :
  Telmisartan 40/80mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg
• Indications :
  For treatment of hypertension as second line therapy.
• Pharmacodynamics :
  Telmisartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor. Hydrochlorothiazide affects the distal renal tubular mechanism of electrolyte reabsorption increases excretion of sodium and chloride hence reduces plasma volume.
• Dosage and administration :
  The usual starting dose of Telmisartan + Hydrochlorothiazide is 40mg + 12.5mg once daily in the morning.
• Contraindications :
  In patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.
• Precautions and warnings :
  Hypotension, hepatic and renal Impairment, hypersensitivity reaction, systemic lupus erythematosus and electrolyte imbalance.
• Use in pregnancy, lactation & pediatrics :
  Discontinue the tablet as soon as pregnancy is detected, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies established for safety and efficacy in lactation and pediatric patients.
• Drug interactions :
  Lithium with telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide is not recommended, concomitant use of telmisartan and ramipril is not recommended. It is recommended to monitor the levels of following drugs- digoxin, barbiturates, narcotics, antidiabetic, other antihypertensive, skeletal muscle relaxants, NSAIDs and anti-inflammatory, when initiating, adjusting or discontinuing the combination of Telmisartan & Hydrochlorothiazide
• Adverse reactions :
  The most commonly reported adverse events are headache, dizziness, weakness, anaphylactic reactions, electrolyte imbalance, hyperglycemia thrombocytopenia & glycosuria.
