Gramocef OF Tablets (Cefixime + Ofloxacin)

  • Each film-coated tablet contains Cefixime 200 mg + Ofloxacin IP 200 mg.
  • For the treatment of patients with typhoid fever and urinary tract infection in adults.
  • Cefixime is an antibiotic, is a third generation cephalosporin like ceftriaxone and Cefotaxime. Ofloxacin belongs to fluoroquinolones group of antimicrobials. Combination ofloxacin prevents nucleic acid synthesis of bacteria and cefixime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is useful for killing the ESBL (Extended Spectrum Betalactamase) bacteria.
  • One tablet, twice daily or as directed by the physician.
  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients/components of the product. And in patients with previous hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin and other beta lactam antibacterial agents may be at greater risk of hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions including shock and fatalities have been reported. Discontinue use if a reaction occurs. Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea: Evaluate if diarrhea occurs.Increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture in all ages
  • Teratogenic Effects. Pregnancy Category C.Consideration should be given to discontinuing nursing temporarily during treatment with cefixime. Paediatrics: Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients and adolescents below the age of 18 years have not been established.
  • When cefexime is administered concomitantly with warfarin and other anti-coagulants, prothrombin time has found to be increased. Absorption is interfered when administered with antacids containing calcium, magnesium or aluminum along with divalent and trivalent cations such as iron, or with multi-vitamins containing zinc.
  • Most common adverse reactions are gastrointestinal such as diarrhea, nausea, loose stools, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, and vomiting.
