Gramocef O Tablets (Cefixime)

  • Each dispersible tablet contains Cefixime 100mg.
  • In the treatment of UTI, respiratory tract infections, biliary tract infections.
  • Cefixime is a semi-synthetic, oral third-generation cephalosporin, which has marked in vitro bactericidal activity against a wide variety of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Bactericidal action of cefixime results from inhibition of cell-wall synthesis.
  • The recommended dose is 8 mg/kg/day. This may be administered as a single daily dose or may be given in two divided doses, as 4 mg/kg every 12 hours
  • Cefixime is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to cefixime or other cephalosporins or any of the other components of the product.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions including shock and fatalities have been reported with cefixime. Discontinue use if a reaction occurs. Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea: Evaluate if diarrhea occurs.
  • Elevated carbamazepine levels have been reported experience when cefixime is administered concomitantly. Drug monitoring may be of assistance in detecting alterations in carbamazepine plasma concentrations. Cefexime may result in increased prothrombin time, with or without clinical bleeding, when administered concomitantly with warfarin and anticoagulants. Cefixime may be associated with a fall in prothrombin activity
  • Most common adverse reactions are gastrointestinal such as diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, loose stools and vomiting.
