Minolox Tablet (Minocycline)

  • Each Minolox Tablet contains Minocycline 50mg /100mg.
  • Indicated in the treatment of UTI, respiratory, Skin & soft tissue, ENT infections, rickettsial, pneumonia, gonorrhea, uncomplicated urethral, endocervical or rectal infections, STD, anaerobic infectious meningitis.
  • Minocycline's effects are related to the inhibition of protein synthesis. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing the binding of tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex and interfering with protein synthesis.
  • Routine antibiotic use:200 mg initially followed by 100 mg every 12 hours in Uncomplicated gonococcal infections other than urethritis and anorectal infections in men. . Gonorrhoea: In adult males: 200mg initially followed by 100mg every 12 hours for a minimum of 4 days with post-therapy cultures within 2-3 days. Adult females may require more prolonged therapy.
  • Hypersensitivity to any of the tetracyclines.
  • Use of Minocycline can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman during tooth development may cause permanent discoloration of the teeth. Discontinue Minocycline If pseudomembranous colitis occurs, liver injury is suspected, in renal impairment, Minocycline doses need to be adjusted, Minocycline may cause central nervous system side effects including light-headedness, dizziness, or vertigo, pseudotumor cerebri in adults, autoimmune syndromes, anaphylaxis, serious skin reactions, erythema multiforme and DRESS syndrome.
  • Pregnancy Category D not recommended during pregnancy. Tetracyclines are secreted in breast milk, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother
  • Concurrent use with oral contraceptives, and isotretinoin should be avoided. Anticoagulant therapy may require downward adjustment of the dosage.
  • Most common adverse reactions are headache, fatigue, dizziness, and pruritus.
