Erox Capsules (Amoxycillin)

• Composition :
  Amoxicillin 250/500 mg Capsules.
• Indications :
  For the treatment of urinary tract infections, respiratory, genito-urinary, ENT and soft tissue infections.
• Pharmacodynamics :
  Amoxicillin is similar to penicillin in its bactericidal action against susceptible bacteria during the stage of active multiplication. It acts through the inhibition of cell wall biosynthesis that leads to the death of the bacteria.
• Dosage and administration :
  The indicated dosageevery 12 hourly.
• Contraindications :
  Contraindicated in patients who have experienced a serious hypersensitivity reaction to amoxicillin or to other β-lactam antibiotics (e.g., penicillins and cephalosporins).
• Precautions and warnings :
  Serious and occasionally fatal anaphylactic reactions have been reported in patients on penicillin therapy. Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD) if occurs, EROX-500 should be discontinued.
• Use in pregnancy, lactation & pediatrics :
  Pregnancy Category B. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in human pregnancy. This drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Caution should be exercised when amoxicillin is administered to a nursing woman. Erox 500 tablets are not recommended for use in pediatrics.
• Drug interactions :
  Probenicid decreases renal tubular secretion of amoxicillin which may result in increased blood levels of amoxicillin. Concomitant use of amoxicillin and oral anticoagulants may increase the prolongation of prothrombin time.
• Adverse reactions :
  The most commonly reported adverse effects are diarrhea, rash, vomiting, and nausea.
