Bicef Tablet(Cefadroxil)

• Composition :
  Each tablet contains Cefadroxil 250 mg/500 mg Dispersible Tablets & 250 mg /5 ml Dry Syrup
• Indications :
  Indicated in the treatment of UTI, skin & skin structure infections caused by S.cocci or streptococci, pharyngitis, tonsilitis, respiratory tract infections only
• Pharmacodynamics :
  Cephalosporins are bactericidal because of their inhibition of cell-wall synthesis
• Dosage and administration :
  Adults: UTI- 1-2g per day in single or divided doses. In skin and skin structure infections and pharyngitis: 1g per day in single dose or in divided doses for 10 days. Children – 30mg/kg/day in divided doses every 12hrs for 10 days
• Contraindications :
  contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics
• Precautions and warnings :
  should be used with caution in the presence of markedly impaired renal function. Prescribed with caution in individuals with history of gastrointestinal disease particularly colitis
• Use in pregnancy, lactation & pediatrics :
  There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in human pregnancy. Caution should be exercised when administering to a nursing mother
• Drug interactions :
  Cefadroxil may decrease the excretion rate of Abacavir which could result in a higher serum leve.Cefadroxil may decrease the excretion rate of Aceclofenac which could result in a higher serum level
• Adverse reactions :
  Onset of pseudomembranous colitis symptoms may occur during or after antibiotic treatment. Allergies (in the form of rash, urticaria, angioedema, and pruritus) have been observed. These reactions usually subsided upon discontinuation of the drug
