Each tablet contains Cefadroxil 250/500mg and Potassium clavulanate62.5/125mg
For the treatment of adult patients with infections caused by susceptible microbes including S. Aureus viz. UTI, LRTI and gonococcal urethritis
Cephalosporins are bactericidal because of their inhibition of cell-wall synthesis.Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactam structurally related to penicillins. It inactivates some beta-lactamase enzymes thereby preventing inactivation of amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid alone does not exert a clinically useful antibacterial effect
One Tablet daily orally
In patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics
Before therapy with cefadroxil is instituted, careful inquiry should be made to determine whether the patient has had previous hypersensitivity reactions to cefadroxil, cephalosporins, penicillins, or other drugs. Cefadroxil should be prescribed with caution in individuals with markedly impaired renal function, history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis. Prolonged use may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
Pregnancy Category B. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in human pregnancy. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing mother
Positive direct Coombs’ tests have been reported during treatment with the cephalosporin antibiotics.Cefadroxil should not be combined with bacteriostatic antibiotics (e.g. tetracycline, erythromycin, sulphonamides, chloramphenicol) since an antagonistic effect is possible. The concomitant administration of probenecid can produce higher and sustained concentrations of cefadroxil in the serum and in the bile
The most commonly reported adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are Dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pruritus, rash, angioedema, urticaria
