Micro-D3 Chewable Tablets (Vitamin D3)

  • Each tablet contains Vitamin D3 60000 IU (Vitamin D: 1 IU is the biological equivalent of 0.025 mcg cholecalciferol)
  • For the treatment of Vitamin D3 deficiency
  • Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is a natural precursor of the calcium-regulating hormone calcitriol. Cholecalciferol is produced in the skin by photochemical conversion of 7-dehydrocholesterol to previtamin D3 by ultraviolet light. It stimulates intestinal calcium absorption, incorporation of calcium into the osteoid, and release of calcium from bone tissue.
  • Vitamin D3 60000 IU to be given once a week for a period of 8 weeks, followed by maintenance daily dose as directed by the physician.
  • In patients with a hypersensitivity to any component of this product, hypercalcaemia, malabsorption syndrome, hypervitaminosis D, renal osteodystrophy with hyperphosphatemia.
  • product should be prescribed with caution to patients suffering from sarcoidosis, impairment of renal function, suffering from cardiac conditions like arteriosclerosis, in elderly patients on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics and patients with a high tendency to calculus formation
  • There are no well-established study in pregnant women. Cholecalciferol and its metabolites are excreted in breast milk. Hence, avoid during lactation. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children. Hence not indicated.
  • Cholestyramine may impair intestinal absorption of vitamin D, Thiazides are known to induce hypercalcaemia, hence careful co-administration with Vitamin D Steroids, some anti-seizure drugs, Statins interfere with Vitamin D metabolism.
  • Weakness, metallic taste, weight loss, muscle or bone pain, constipation, nausea and vomiting. Vitamin D at normal doses usually has no side effects.
