Moxigram D Eye Drops (Moxifloxacin + Dexamethasone)

  • Moxifloxacin 0.5% and Dexamethasone 0.1% eye drops.
  • Indicated for the treatment of postoperative inflammatory and bacterial infection of eyes.
  • The antibacterial action of moxifloxacin results from inhibition of the topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV. DNA gyrase is an essential enzyme that is involved in the replication, transcription and repair of bacterial DNA.Dexamethasone suppresses the inflammatory response to a variety of agents and it probably delays or slows healing. No generally accepted explanation of these steroid properties has been advanced.
  • The recommended dose is one drop in the affected eye every 4 to 6 hours.
  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.
  • For topical ophthalmic use only and should not be injected subconjunctivally or introduced directly into the anterior chamber of the eye. Patients should be advised not to wear contact lenses if they have signs or symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis.
  • There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, nursing woman and in pediatric patients have not been established.
  • Drug-drug interaction studies have not been conducted with Moxigram D eye drops.
  • The most commonly reported adverse events are conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, ocular discomfort, cataract formation.
