Lopres Eye Drops (Timolol Maleate)

  • Timolol Maleate 0.5% Eye Drops.
  • For the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open angle glaucoma.
  • Timolol maleate is a non-selectivebeta adrenergic receptor blocking agent that does not have significant intrinsic sympathomimetic, direct myocardial depressant, or local anesthetic (membrane-stabilizing) activity. The effect of reducing IOP in eye is thought to be primarily due to reduced aqueous formation.
  • One drop in the affected eye(s) twice a day.
  • Bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Sinus bradycardia, second or third degree atrioventricular block, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock. Hypersensitivity to any component of this product
  • Potentiation of Respiratory Reactions Including Asthma, Cardiac Failure, Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Increased Reactivity to Allergens, Potentiation of Muscle Weakness, Masking of Hypoglycemic Symptoms in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus, Masking of Thyrotoxicosis.
  • There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, nursing woman. Safety and effectiveness in pediatric populationhave not been established
  • Carful co-administration of systemic Beta-adrenergic blocking agents, Calcium antagonists, Catecholamine-depleting drugs, Digitalis and calcium antagonists, Quinidine, Clonidineantiarrhythmic (including amiodarone), guanethidine, parasympathomimetics, Cimetidine, hydralazine, phenothiazines and alcohol
  • Ocular burning, stinging. Blurred vision, cataract, conjunctival injection, headache, hypertension, infection, itching and decreased visual acuity are also noted.
