Hicet DC Tablets (Cetirizine + Phenylephrine Hydrochloride)
Each tablet contains: Cetirizine 10 mg + Phenylephrine 10mg
Indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis, fever and nasal congestion
Cetirizine is an antihistamine; its principal effects are mediated via selective inhibition of peripheral H1 receptors. Phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic agent with mainly direct effects on adrenergic receptors. It has predominantly alpha adrenergic activity and is without stimulating effects on the central nervous system.
One tablet daily
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to cetirizine or its parent compound hydroxyzine.
Concurrent use with alcohol or other CNS depressants may cause additional reductions in alertness and impairment of performance. Caution in epileptic patients and patients at risk of convulsions is recommended.
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in human pregnancy, lactation.
There was a small decrease in the clearance of cetirizine caused by a 400-mg dose of theophylline; it is possible that larger theophylline doses could have a greater effect.
