Hicet AX Tablet and Syrup (Cetrizine HCl + Ambroxol HCl)

• Composition :
  Cetirizine 10mg + Ambroxol 75mg SR Tablets/ Cetirizine 2.5mg + Ambroxol 30mg/5ml Syrup
• Indications :
  For symptomatic relief of productive cough associated with allergic rhinitis, when both antihistamine and mucolytic agents are desired.
• Pharmacodynamics :
  Cetrizine is a selective peripheral H1 receptor antagonist. Thus it inhibits the allergic symptoms produced by histamines like cold, rhinorrhea, sneezing, urticaria etc. The drug has some mast cell stabilizing properties. Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic agent by liquefying and loosening thick mucus that can be coughed out easily.
• Dosage and administration :
  One tablet at night. Children aged 6 to 12 years the daily recommended dose is 5 mg to 10mg once daily. Children aged 6 Months to 5 years: The recommended initial dose is 2.5 mg once daily in the evening.
• Contraindications :
  History of hypersensitivity to any of the constituents of the formulation, to hydroxyzine or to any piperazine derivatives.
• Precautions and warnings :
  Concurrent use with alcohol or other CNS depressants may cause additional reductions in alertness and impairment of performance. Caution in epileptic patients and patients at risk of convulsions is recommended.
• Use in pregnancy, lactation & pediatrics :
  There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in human pregnancy, lactation.
• Drug interactions :
  There was a small decrease in the clearance of cetirizine caused by a 400-mg dose of theophylline; it is possible that larger theophylline doses could have a greater effect.
• Adverse reactions :
  Fatigue, dry mouth and somnolence
