Ebast M Tablets (Ebastine + Montelukast)

  • Each film-coated tablet contains Ebastine 10 mg + Montelukast 10 mg Tablets.
  • For the treatment of allergic rhinitis in adults only.
  • Ebastine, a piperidine derivative, is a long-acting, non-sedating, second-generation histamine receptor antagonist that binds preferentially to peripheral H1 receptors. It has antihistaminic, anti-allergic activity and prevents histamine-induced bronchoconstriction. It does not have significant sedative or antimuscarinic actions. Montelukast is an orally active compound that inhibits physiologic actions of leukotrienes LTD4 at the CysLT1 receptor without any agonist activity.
  • Adults and children (>12 years): One tablet, once daily.
  • Hypersensitivity to active ingredients or to any of the other excipients of the product.
  • Ebastine- Caution should be exercised when ebastine is administered to patients with known prolongation of the QTc interval on the electrocardiogram, hypokalemia hepatic impairment and renal insufficiency. Montelukast- Neuropsychiatric symptoms have been reported with montelukast. Patients should be closely monitored for the same. Systemic eosinophilia, sometimes presenting with clinical features of vasculitis consistent with Churg-Strauss syndrome, has been reported.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy. Avoid use during lactation. Ebast-M is not recommended in children under 12 years of age.
  • No dose adjustment is needed when Ebast-M is co-administered with theophylline, prednisone, prednisolone, oral contraceptives, terfenadine, digoxin, warfarin, thyroid hormones, sedative hypnotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, benzodiazepines, decongestants, and Cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme inducers. Increase in plasma concentration of ebastine is observed when administered along with ketoconazole or itraconazole and erythromycin.
  • The most common side effects are dry mouth, drowsiness, headache, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, pharyngitis, cough, nausea and diarrhea.
