Allercet Tablet (Cetrizine Hydrochloride)

  • Each tablet contains Cetirizine Hydrochloride 5 mg /10mg.
  • Indicated for treatment of allergic rhinitis & chronic urticaria.
  • Cetirizine hydrochloride, a human metabolite of hydroxyzine, is a potent antihistamine that selectively inhibits the effect of peripheral H (1)-receptors. Cetirizine belongs to the piperazine class of antihistamines and is the major carboxylated metabolite of hydroxyzine.
  • Children 6 - 12 years: The recommended dose is 5 mg once daily. Adults and children over 12 years: The recommended dose is 10 mg once a day, with or without food.
  • History of hypersensitivity to any of the constituents of the formulation, to hydroxyzine or to any piperazine derivatives. Cetirizine is contraindicated during lactation.
  • Concurrent use with alcohol or other CNS depressants may cause additional reductions in alertness and impairment of CNS performance.
  • There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in human pregnancy, lactation and children. This product should only be used in pregnancy if considered essential by the physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose of 2.5 mg once daily in children 6 to 11 years of age with renal impairment as the systemic exposure with the 5mg dose is approximately twice that of adults. Allercet Tablets are not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age.
  • No clinically significant drug interactions have been found with theophylline at a low dose, azithromycin, pseudoephedrine, ketoconazole, or erythromycin. A small decrease in the clearance of cetirizine is caused by a 400-mg dose of theophylline; it is possible that larger theophylline doses could have a greater effect.
  • Somnolence, headache, fatigue, nasopharyngitis, dry mouth, pharyngitis, fatigue, pyrexia, cough, diarrhoea and vomiting.
  • Anti-Allergics
