Dolopar M Suspension (Paracetamol + Mefenamic Acid)

  • Each 5ml suspension contains Paracetamol 125 mg and Mefenamic acid 50mg.
  • It is indicated for body pain and fever.
  • Paracetamol is a centrally acting analgesic and antipyretic agent. Paracetamol does not possess any anti-inflammatory action. Paracetamol appears to produce analgesia by elevation of the pain threshold. Mefenamic acid has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic action. It acts by inhibiting Prostaglandin (PGs) synthesis and their release at the site of injury.
  • 60 mg / kg body weight /day in 4 divided doses.
  • Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients/components of the product, Severe and active hepatic impairment.
  • Paracetamol should be given with care to patients with impaired kidney or liver function. Large doses should be avoided in patients with hepatic impairment. Paracetamol overdose may harm the liver. Maximum recommended daily dose of paracetamol should not be exceeded.
  • Use during pregnancy (particularly late pregnancy) should be avoided.
  • The hepatotoxicity of Paracetamol, particularly after overdosage, may be increased by drugs which induce liver microsomal enzymes such as barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants. The anticoagulant effect of warfarin and other coumarins may be enhanced by prolonged regular use of paracetamol with increased risk of bleeding; occasional doses have no significant effect.
  • Adverse effects of paracetamol are rare and usually mild, the most common adverse effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, and insomnia
