DOLO MF Suspension

  • Each 5ml suspension contains Paracetamol 125 mg and Mefenamic acid 50mg.
  • It is indicated for pain and fever in children.
  • Paracetamol is a centrally acting analgesic and antipyretic agent. Paracetamol does not possess any anti-inflammatory action. Paracetamol appears to produce analgesia by elevation of the pain threshold. Mefenamic acid has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic action. It acts by inhibiting Prostaglandin (PGs) synthesis and their release at the site of injury.
  • Age Dose (upto three times daily orally)
    6 months - 1 year 5 ml
    2 – 4 years 7.5 ml
    5 – 8 years 10 ml
    8-10 years 15 ml
    10-12 years 20 ml
  • •Hypersensitivity to Paracetamol or mefenamic acid or any of the components of the product. •Severe hepatic dysfunction, pre-existing renal disease.
  • •If diarrhoea occurs, the dosage should be reduced. •Patients should be informed about the signs of serious skin reactions and use of the drug should be discontinued at the first appearance of skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity. •Borderline elevations of liver function tests may occur in some patients receiving therapy
  • Use during pregnancy (particularly late pregnancy) should be avoided.
  • •The hepatotoxicity of Paracetamol, particularly after overdosage, may be increased by drugs which induce liver microsomal enzymes such as barbiturates. •The speed of absorption of paracetamol may be increased by domperidone. •Antivirals: Regular use of Paracetamol possibly reduces metabolism of Zidovudine (increased risk of neutropenia).
  • Adverse effects of paracetamol are rare and usually mild, the most common adverse effects are skin rashes, diarrhea, nausea.
