Parkin Plus Tablets (Trifluoperazine+ Trihexyphenidyl )

  • Each tablet contains Trifluoperazine 5 mg + Trihexyphenidyl 2 mg Tablets
  • Indicated in the treatment of schizophrenia
  • Trihexyphenidyl is a selective M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist partially blocks cholinergic activity in the CNS. It increases the availability of dopamine, a brain chemical that is critical in the initiation and smooth control of voluntary muscle movement. Trifluoperazine works by blocking dopamine D1 and D2 receptors in the mesocortical and mesolimbic pathways, relieving or minimizing such symptoms of schizophrenia
  • One tablet once daily
  • Contraindicated in patients with Narrow angle glaucoma , in those with existing blood dyscrasias or known liver damage, uncontrolled cardiac decompensation.
  • should be discontinued as the first sign of clinical symptoms of tardive dyskinesia and Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome.
  • drug treatment should be avoided in pregnancy unless considered essential. It is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk,should only be used if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the infant. Safety and efficacy in pediatricshas not been established.
