Torolac DT (Ketorolac)

  • Ketorolac tromethamine10 mg Orodispersible tablet.
  • For the short-term management of post-operative pain and musculoskeletal pain.
  • Ketorolac inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.
  • : Usual dose is 10mg every 4 to 6 hours, not exceeding 40mg per day.
  • Hypersensitivity to ketorolac, active peptic ulcer disease,recent GI bleeding or perforation, in patients with advanced renal impairment and in patients at risk for renal failure due to volume depletion, in patients with suspected or confirmed cerebrovascular bleeding, patients with hemorrhagic diathesis, incomplete hemostasis and those at high risk of bleeding.
  • Should be used for short term, should not exceed 5 days.NSAIDs may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, which can be fatal.
  • Pregnancy Category C: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant womenshould be used only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. Exercise caution when administered to a nursing woman,safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients below 17 years has not been established.
  • Contraindicated in patient’s currently receiving aspirin or NSAIDs as risk of serious NSAID related adverse effect may increase.
  • Most common adverse events are abdominal pain, headache, nausea, dyspepsia, vomiting. Practitioners should be alert for severe complication related to NSAID such as GI ulcers, bleeding and perforation.
