Novolid plus ( Nimesulide +Paracetamol )

  • Each tablet contains Nimesulide BP 100mg+Paracetamol IP 325mg uncoated tablets.
  • Inflammatory condition including joint disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, post traumatic and post-operative painful condition and fever.
  • Nimesulide is an inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis enzyme cyclo-oxygenase 2.Paracetamol is a centrally acting analgesic and antipyretic agent. Its mechanism of action is believed to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, primarily within the central nervous system.
  • 1 tablet twice daily after meal.
  • Hypersensitivity to the combination or any of its components, Active peptic ulcer disease and in severe hepatic and severe renal impairement.History of hepatotoxic reactions to nimesulide.third trimester of pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • use of drug with concomitant NSAIDs including cyclooxygenase-2 selective inhibitors should be avoided. The combination should be used with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.Gastrointestinal (GI) Effects- Risk of GI Ulceration, Bleeding and Perforation can occur.Nimesulide: Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration and hypertension.
  • Not recommended in pregnancy and lactation.The safety and effectiveness of nimesulide and paracetamol in pediatric patients has not been established.
  • Drugs such as alcohol, tricyclic antidepressants barbiturates and other anticonvulsants which induce hepatic microsomal enzymes may increase the hepatotoxicity of paracetamol particularly after over dosage. Prolonged concurrent use of paracetamol and a salicylate causes increased risk of analgesic nepropathy.Concomitant use with corticosteroids increase risk of gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding. Drug may enhance the effects of anti-coagulants, such as warfarin. nimesulide transiently decreases the effect of furosemide on sodium excretion and, to a lesser extent, on potassium excretion and reduces the diuretic response.
