Dolowin SR Tablets (Aceclofenac)

  • Each tablet contains Aceclofenac 200mg Sustained Release.
  • Indicated as NSAID for the relief of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
  • Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal agent with marked anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. The mode of action of aceclofenac is largely based on the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Aceclofenac is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which is involved in the production of prostaglandins.
  • One tablet, once daily preferably with or after food.
  • Contraindicated in patients with a history of or active, recurrent peptic ulcer/haemorrhage (two or more distinct episodes of proven ulceration or bleeding) and in patients with known sensitivity to this drug or other any other ingredients.
  • Caution is required if administered to patients suffering from, or with a previous history of, bronchial asthma since NSAIDs have been reported to precipitate bronchospasm in such patients. Caution in patients with a history of hypertension and/or heartfailure as fluid retention and oedema have been reported in association with NSAID therapy.
  • Not recommended in pregnant woman as there is no information during pregnancy. The drug is not recommended in lactating women. Not recommended in children under 18 years of age.
  • Aceclofenac, like many NSAIDs, may increase plasma concentrations of lithium. Caution should be exercised if NSAIDs and methotrexate are administered within 24 hours of each other, since NSAIDs may increase methotrexate plasma levels, resulting in increased toxicity. Possible increased risk of nephrotoxicity when NSAIDs are given with tacrolimus.
  • The most frequent side effects are dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
  • Anti-Inflammatories
