Divon MR (Diclofeanc + Thiocolchicoside)

  • Each tablet contains Diclofenac Sodium 50mg and Thiocolchicoside 4 mg.
  • Indications:For the treatment of acute inflammatory conditions associated with spasm in adults only.
  • Diclofenac sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic activities. The mechanism of action is related to inhibition of the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) pathways thatplays a major role in causing inflammation, pain and fever. Thiocolchicosideis a muscle relaxing agent that works through selective binding to the GABA-A receptor. It prevents muscle contractions by activating the GABA inhibitory motor pathway.
  • Adult: One tablet 2-3 times a day. The drug should be taken after the meals.
  • Hypersensitivity to active constituents or any other excipients of this product. Diclofenac should not be given to patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria, or other allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Severe, rarely fatal, anaphylactic-like reactions to NSAIDs have been reported in such patients. Diclofenac is contraindicated for the treatment of peri-operative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Thiocolchicoside is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation; in women of child bearing potential not using effective contraceptive.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients with: known CV disease or risk factors for CV disease, prior history of ulcer disease or GI bleeding, fluid retention and edema, impaired renal and hepatic impairment and those taking diuretics or ACE inhibitors. Discontinue the drug if anaphylactic reactions occur. New onset or worsening hypertension may occur which warrants regular blood pressure monitoring. Aneuploidy is reported as a risk factor for teratogenicity, embryofoeto-toxicity/spontaneous abortion, cancer, and impaired male fertility. As a precautionary measure, use of the product at doses exceeding the recommended dose or long term use should be avoided.
  • Divon-MR is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients.
  • Concomitant use of diclofenac and aspirin is not generally recommended because of the potential of increased adverse effects including increased GI bleeding.Concomitant use of ACE Inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB), or beta-blockers with diclofenac may diminish the antihypertensive effect of these drugs. The effects of warfarin and NSAIDs on GI bleeding are synergistic, such that users of both drugs together have a risk of serious GI bleeding higher than users of either drug alone.
  • The most frequently reported adverse experiences occurring in patients are: abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, gross bleeding/perforation, heartburn, nausea, GI ulcers (gastric/duodenal) vomiting and somnolence.
