Clindamycin phosphate 1% w/w + Nicotinamide 4% w/w with Aloe
Topical treatment for acne
Topical clindamycin reduces free fatty acid concentrations on the skin and suppresses the growth of Propionibacterium acnes (Corynebacterium acnes), an anaerobe found in sebaceous glands and follicles. Nicotinamide has anti-inflammatory and sebostatic role in acne.
Apply a thin layer onto affected area twice daily
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any other excipients of the formulation. a history of regional enteritis or ulcerative colitis, or a history of antibiotic associated colitis.
Renal and hepatic diseases; GI disease; elderly, females, neonates, atopic patients. Regular monitoring of blood counts, liver and kidney functions. Caution is exercised in atopic individuals.
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in this population.
Clindamycin may enhance the action of other neuromuscular blocking agents, Cholinergics and Erythromycin: Antagonism, hence should be used with caution. There is risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis on adminictration with statins.
The most common adverse reactions are skin dryness, pruritus, erythema, irritation, flushing.
