Divon AQ injection(Diclofenac)

  • Each vial contains Diclofenac sodium 75mg/1ml.
  • For management of painful conditions in post-operative cases, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
  • Diclofenac sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic activities. The mechanism of action is related to inhibition of the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) pathways thatplays a major role in causing inflammation, pain and fever.
  • Adults: 75 mg by deep IM injection, to be repeated after 6 hours if necessary.Do not exceed 150 mg in 24 hours.
  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients,patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria, or other allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Contraindicated for the treatment of perioperative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and in moderate to severe renal insufficiency in the perioperative period and who are at risk for volume depletion. Diclofenac is contraindicated in third-trimester of pregnancy.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients with: known CV disease or risk factors for CV disease, prior history of ulcer disease or GI bleeding, fluid retention and edema, impaired renal and hepatic impairment and those taking diuretics or ACE inhibitors. Discontinue the drug if anaphylactic reactions occur. New onset or worsening hypertension may occur which warrants blood pressure monitoring.
  • There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Hence, use in pregnancy should be avoided. Avoid use during lactation as it is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk. Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.
  • Concomitant use of diclofenac and aspirin is not generally recommended because of the potential of increased adverse effects including increased GI bleeding.Concomitant use of diclofenac and anticoagulants has a risk of serious GI bleeding higher than users of either drug alone. NSAIDs may diminish the antihypertensive effect of ACE inhibitors.
  • The most frequently reported adverse experiences occurring in patients are nausea, constipation, headache, infusion site pain, dizziness, flatulence, vomiting, and insomnia.
