S- Amlong Tablet (S (-)amlodipine besylate )

• Composition :
  Each tablet contains S-amlodipinebesylate 2.5 mg / 5 mg
• Indications :
  Indicated in hypertension and angina pectoris.
• Pharmacodynamics :
  S-amlodipine (also known as levoamlodipine) is a pharmacologically active enantiomer of amlodipine. S-amlodipine is a calcium channel blockerAmlodipine inhibits the influx of calcium ions into both vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. Reduced intracellular calcium leads to decreased vascular smooth muscle contractility, increased smooth muscle relaxation, and resultant vasodilation. This causes a decrease in blood pressure.
• Dosage and administration :
  Adult recommended starting dose: 2.5 mg orally once daily with maximum dose 5 mg once daily. Elderly patients, or patients with hepatic insufficiency may be started on 1.25 mg once daily.
• Contraindications :
  Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amlodipine.
• Precautions and warnings :
  Symptomatic hypotension is possible, particularly in patients with severe aortic stenosis.Worsening of angina and acute myocardial infarction can develop after starting or increasing the dose of S (–) Amlong particularly in patients with severe obstructive coronary artery disease. Titrate slowly when administering calcium channel blockers to patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Use in pregnancy, lactation & pediatrics :
  There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, nursing women Use in pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk. Discontinue nursing when administering S – Amlong. Effect on patients less than 6 years of ageis not known
• Drug interactions :
  Most common adverse reactions are headache and pedal edema.
