Ventryl LS Syrup (Levosalbutamol + Ambroxol + Guaiphenesin)

  • Each 5ml syrup contains Ambroxol hydrochloride 15 mg, Levosalbutamol 0.5 mg, Guaiphenesin 50 mg.
  • For the symptomatic relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma & chronic bronchitis.
  • Levosalbutamol is a short-acting β2 adrenergic receptor agonist relaxes the smooth muscles of all airways, from the trachea to the terminal bronchioles. Guaifenesin is a glyceryl guaiacolate with expectorant effects. Ambroxol hydrochloride is a mucolytic agent, which liquefies thick, tenacious sputum. Ambroxol dissolves mucopolysaccharide fibers and thus reduces viscosity of sputum.
  • Children (6-12 years): 5 ml twice daily, Children (2- 6 years): 2.5ml twice daily.
  • The use of this product is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of this product.
  • Caution should be observed while prescribing Ventryl LS to patients with hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Levosalbutamol can produce paradoxical bronchospasm, which may be life-threatening. If paradoxical bronchospasm occurs, levosalbutamol should be discontinued immediately and alternative therapy instituted. Guaiphenesin should be not used for persistent or chronic cough, such as occurs with asthma, or where cough is accompanied by excessive secretions, unless directed by a physician.
  • Hypokalemia with high doses of ß2 -agonists may result in increased susceptibility to digitalis induced cardiac arrhythmias. Avoid concomitant use of other short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilators or epinephrine in patients being treated with levosalbutamol.
  • The most common side-effects are palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, vomiting, nausea, sweating and muscle cramps.
