Ventryl D Syrup (Dextromethorphan + Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Phenylephrine )
Each 5 ml contains Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10 mg, Chlorpheniramine Maleate 2 mg and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 5 mg.
For the relief of cough and upper respiratory symptoms.
Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is a non-narcotic antitussive with effectiveness equal to codeine. It acts in the medulla oblongata to elevate the cough threshold. Chlorpheniramine antagonizes competitively the effects of histamine on H1-receptors and also has weak anti-muscarinic and moderate anti-serotonin and local anaesthetic actions. Phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic agent with mainly direct effects on adrenergic receptors and acts as a decongestant.
6 to 11 years: 5 mL orally every 4 hours not to exceed 6 doses daily. 12 years or older: 10 mL orally every 4 hours not to exceed 6 doses daily.
dextromethorphan is contraindicated in Patients with a history of quinidine, quinine or mefloquine-induced thrombocytopenia, hepatitis, or other hypersensitivity reactions
Thrombocytopenia or other hypersensitivity reactions: Discontinue if occurs.
Not recommended in pregnancy and lactation.
Acetaminophen: May increase the serum concentration of Phenylephrine. Chlorpheniramine may increase the serum concentration of Fosphenytoin-Phenytoin.
Diarrhea, dizziness, vomiting, asthenia, sedation, drowsiness and dizziness.
