Each Neurovin tablet contains 5 mg of Vinpocetine.
For the treatment of Psychic or neurological symptoms of cerebral circulatory disturbances of various origin e.g., impaired memory, locomotor disorder
Vinpocetine has calcium - channel blocking activity, as well as voltage-gated sodium channel blocking activity. It inhibits the acetylcholine release evoked by excitatory amino acids and to protect neurons against excitotoxicity. In addition, inhibits a cyclic GMP phosphodiesterase. This inhibition enhances cyclic GMP levels in the vascular smooth muscle, leading to reduced resistance of cerebral vessels and increase of cerebral flow.
One tablet 3 times daily.
It is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to vinca alkaloids such as vinblastine and vincristine.
Those with hypotension or orthostatic hypotension should be cautioned that prolonged use of vinpocetine may lead to slight reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Use during pregnancy may harm the baby or result in miscarriage. Safety and efficacy not established in nursing mothers and pediatric patient.
Slight changes in prothrombin time have been noted in those adding Vinpocetine to warfarin.
Most common adverse effects are GI upset, nausea, anxiety, dizziness, sleep disturbances or headache.
