Haloderm lotion (Halobetasol Propionate )

  • Halobetasol Propionate 0.05%
  • For treatment of plaque psoriasis.
  • Halobetasol propionate possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive properties. The drug induces phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins such as lipocortins. The protein inhibits the biosynthesis of pro-inflammatory mediators such as leukotrienes and prostaglandins by inhibiting arachidonic acid, a precursor of pro-inflammatory mediators.
  • Apply a thin layer of Halobetasol Propionate to the affected skin twice daily for up to two weeks. Rub in gently. It is not used for more than 2 weeks.
  • Contraindicated in individuals who have shown hypersensitivity to any of its active excipients.
  • Reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression may occur, Systemic absorption may require evaluation for HPA axis suppression
  • Pregnancy Category C. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of haloderm lotion in pregnant women. Should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. caution should be exercised when drug is administered to a nursing woman, breastfeeding women not to apply lotion directly to the nipple and areola to avoid direct infant exposure. The efficacy and safety have not been established in pediatric patents
