Fintrix Tablet (Terbinafine)

  • Each tablet contains Terbinafine HCL 250 mg / 500mg
  • In treatment of fungal infection of skin, hair and nails.
  • Terbinafine, an allylamine antifungal, inhibits biosynthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membrane, via inhibition of squalene epoxidase enzyme. This results in fungal cell death primarily due to the increased membrane permeability mediated by the accumulation of high concentrations of squalene.
  • Fingernail onychomycosis: 250 mg tablet, once daily for 6 weeks, Toenail onychomycosis: 250 mg tablet, once daily for 12 weeks.
  • Hypersensitivity to terbinafine or any of the active excipients.
  • Liver failure, Depressive symptoms have been reported with terbinafine use, Severe Neutropenia, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
  • Pregnancy Category B: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Tablets not be initiated during pregnancy. Terbinafine is present in breast milk not recommended in nursing mothers. The efficacy and safety of Terbinafine have not been established in pediatric patients.
  • Terbinafine is an inhibitor of CYP2D6 isozyme and has an effect on metabolism of desipramine, cimetidine, fluconazole, cyclosporine, rifampin, and caffeine.
  • Most common adverse reactions are headache, diarrhoea, rash, dyspepsia, liver enzyme abnormalities, pruritus, taste disturbance, nausea, abdominal pain, and flatulence.
