Arbitel AV Tablets (Telmisartan + Atorvastatin )

• Composition :
  Each tablet contains Telmisartan 40mg and Atorvastatin 10mg.
• Indications :
  For coexisting essential hypertension & hyperlipidemia.
• Pharmacodynamics :
  Telmisartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland. Atorvastatin is a selective, competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3methylglutaryl-coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor of sterols, including cholesterol
• Dosage and administration :
  One tablet once daily can be taken with or without food.
• Contraindications :
  In patients with known hypersensitivity to this drug or any other component of this product.
• Precautions and warnings :
  Telmisartan- Hyperkalemia,symptomatic hypotension, impaired hepatic and renal Function. Atorvastatin-Myopathy, liver or endocrine dysfunction,patients with recent stroke or TIA.
• Use in pregnancy, lactation & pediatrics :
  It is recommended to discontinue during pregnancy and lactation. Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established
• Drug interactions :
  Telmisartan:Monitoring of the serum digoxin and Lithium is recommended.NSAIDs: In elderly volume-depleted patients with compromised renal function, concomitant use can result in deterioration of renal function Atorvastatin: Risk of myopathy is increased. Concomitant administration with CYP3A4 inhibitors-clarithromycin,protease inhibitors, itraconazole,cyclosporine should be done with caution.Rifampinand digoxin levels should be monitored.
• Adverse reactions :
  Telmisartan: back pain, sinusitis, diarrhea, intermittent claudication and skin ulcer. Atorvastatin: nasopharyngitis, arthralgia, diarrhea, pain in extremity, and urinary tract infection.
