D- Lorinol Tablets (Desloratadine)

  • Each tablet contains desloratadine 10 mg
  • Chronic idiopathic urticaria and seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults
  • Desloratadine is a long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist with selective H1-receptor histamine antagonist activity. Desloratadine inhibits histamine release from mast cells. Blocks the action of histamine and reduces the symptoms of urticaria and allergic rhinitis.
  • One tablet, once daily
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to desloratadine or any other component of this product.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions including rash, pruritus, urticaria, edema, dyspnea, and anaphylaxis. Stop taking desloratadine and consider alternative treatments.
  • Pregnancy Category C, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Desloratadine should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Desloratadine passes into breast milk, therefore a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue desloratadine, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother. Safety and efficacy has not been evaluated in paediatric patients.
  • Co-administration of desloratadine with ketoconazole, erythromycin, or azithromycin and with fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), results in increased plasma concentrations of desloratadine. Co-administration of desloratadine with cimetidine, a histamine H2-receptor antagonist, results in increased plasma concentrations of desloratadine, hence caution should be exercised
  • The most common adverse reactions are pharyngitis, dry mouth, myalgia, fatigue, somnolence, dysmenorrhea.
