Betagel (Betamethasone dipropionate)

  • It consists of Betamethasone dipropionate 0.05% Gel
  • Indicated in the treatment of psoriasis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis neurodermatitis, senile pruritus.
  • Betamethasone belongs to a class of medications called as corticosteroids. It works by decreasing the formation, release, and activity of different cells and chemicals that cause swelling, redness, and itching, thereby relieving the symptoms associated with skin conditions.
  • Apply a thin film to the affected skin areas once or twice daily. Avoid use on the face, groin, or axillae, or if skin atrophy is present at the treatment site. Not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use. Use no more than 50 g per week.
  • Hypersensitivity to active ingredients or any excipients of the product.
  • Reversible HPA axis suppression with potential for glucocorticoid insufficiency. Increased risk of glaucoma and cataract. The use of topical antibiotics occasionally allows overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi.
  • There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant and lactation women. Not recommended for pediatric patients under 13 years of age.
  • Co-administered drugs that can inhibit CYP3A4 (e.g. ritonavir, itraconazole) have been shown to inhibit the metabolism of corticosteroids leading to increased systemic exposure
  • Erythema, folliculitis, pruritus, and vesiculation.
