Amlong A , A 25 Tablets (Amlodipine + Atenolol)

  • Each uncoated tablet contains Amlodipine 5 mg and Atenolol 25/50 mg.
  • Indicated in treatment ofmild to moderate hypertension
  • Amlodipine is a calcium ion influx inhibitor of the dihydropyridine group inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into cardiac and vascular smooth muscle, leading to reductions in peripheral vascular resistance and in blood pressure. Atenolol is a beta-blocker which acts preferentially on beta1-adrenergic receptors in the heart. Selectivity decreases with increasing dose. It has little intrinsic sympathomimetic activity and no membrane-stabilising activity.
  • One tablet once daily
  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance of the product.
  • Patients with heart failure should be treated with caution, slow dose titration and careful monitoring may be required in patients with severe hepatic impairment. Atenolol dosage should be adjusted in Bradycardia and severe renal conditions.Dosage should be adjusted in cases of severe impairment of renal function. May cause cardiogenic shock, uncontrolled heart failure, sick sinus syndrome, second-or third-degree heart block, untreated phaeochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, hypotension, and severe peripheral arterial circulatory disturbances
  • Pregnancy category C drug. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, nursing women.To be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.Discontinue nursing while amlodipine and atenolol is administered.Safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients have not been established.
  • Caution should be exercised when amlodipine and sildenafil were used in combination. Monitor for symptoms of hypotension and edema when amlodipine is co-administered with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir). concomitant use of Atenolol with alcohol may lead to an enhanced hypotensive effect,and caution should be exercised when Atenolol is co- administered with alpha blockers, anti-arrhythmic, Antidiabetics and Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
