Pantocar Enteric coated Tablets (Pantoprazole).

  • Each tablet contains pantoprazole 40mg.
  • For the treatment of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer & gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses the final step in gastric acid production by covalently binding to the (H+, K+)-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell.
  • 40 mg once daily in the morning 30-60minutes before breakfast.
  • Known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation or to substituted benzimidazoles.
  • Symptomatic response does not preclude presence of gastric malignancy; atrophic gastritis has been noted with long-term therapy. Bone Fracture: Long-term and multiple daily dose PPI therapy may be associated with an increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist or spine.
  • Teratogenic Effects Pregnancy Category C. this drug should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. During lactation, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the benefit of the drug to the mother. The safety and effectiveness for pediatric uses other than Erosive Esophagitis have not been established.
  • Concomitant warfarin use may require monitoring.
  • The most common side-effects are headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, flatulence, dizziness, and arthralgia.
