Esofag D Capsules (Esomeprazole + Domperidone).

  • Each capsule contains Esomeprazole 40 mg + Domperidone 30 mg SR.
  • Indicated for the treatment of adult patients with GERD not responding to esomeprazole alone.
  • Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+ /K+ - ATPase in the gastric parietal cell. Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist with anti-emetic properties.
  • One capsule once daily before food.
  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients/ components of the product.
  • Therapy with esomeprazole does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy. Avoid concomitant use of esomeprazole/omeprazole with clopidogrel. Inhibition of platelet aggregation by clopidogrel is entirely due to an active metabolite. PPI therapy may be associated with increased risk of Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea. Atrophic gastritis has been noted with long-term omeprazole therapy. Bone Fracture: Long-term and multiple daily dose PPI therapy may be associated with an increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist or spine.
  • Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category C. Nursing mothers: Likely present in human milk. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman. Not recommended in children less than 12 years of age.
  • Esomeprazole may affect plasma levels of antiretroviral drugs – use with atazanavir and nelfinavir is not recommended. Esomeprazole interfere with drugs for which gastric pH affects bioavailability (e.g., ketoconazole, iron salts, erlotinib, digoxin and mycophenolate mofetil). Concomitant administration of anticholinergic drugs may antagonize the anti-dyspeptic effect of domperidone.
  • The most common side effects are headache, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, constipation, and dry mouth.
