Each tablet contains Olanzapine 2.5 mg/5 mg/10 mg.
For treatment of schizophrenia in adults.
Olanzapine efficacy in Schizophrenia is mediated through a combination of dopamine and serotonin type 2 (5HT2) antagonism.
Oral: Start at 5-10 mg once daily; Target: 10 mg/day within several days.
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Olanzapine, in combination with fluoxetine
Elderly Patients with dementia-related psychosis; Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome: Patients taking olanzapine should be monitored for symptoms of hyperglycemia.
Pregnancy Category C. should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Nursing Mothers: Breast feeding is not recommended. Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness in children and adolescent patients have not been established.
Diazepam: May potentiate orthostatic hypotension; Alcohol: May potentiate orthostatic hypotension; Carbamazepine: Increased clearance of olanzapine.
Most common adverse reactions postural hypotension, constipation, weight gain, dizziness, personality disorder and akathisia.
